A fabulous donation to our Village Food Pantry

This week has been a hectic week, as although our hall is only open for our food pantry on a Friday, we were asked if we would like a lot of frozen food, all that they needed was our charity number, and a lot of frozen food was donated to us from a national supermarket chain.

We took delivery of it on Wednesday afternoon, and initially offered it to all on our food pantry list, we quickly realised that there was far to much frozen food, so we opened it up to all of Harriston and to anyone in Aspatria that was subscribed to our Facebook page. We asked for a donation of £2 minimum, this money was not going to the village hall it was going back to the Supermarket that donated all the frozen food, to go into the charity NSPCC which they always collect for at this time of year. It was a long day, as we had to get our hall cleaned and opened, this was the first time we had opened our main hall doors since March, luckily all the risk assessments and signs had been done and were in place, along with the protocol for opening, whilst ensuring we were covid-19 secure. We have been running our food pantry via the back door, which also had its own risk assessments up until Wednesday 21st October. We made initially £137, this was taken back to the supermarket on Thursday afternoon, but there is still money to come in, which will be taken to the supermarket next week. We have also published and delivered around the village our latest Newsletter, it has now been uploaded to our Newsletter page on our website.

Still no news on reopening

We are hopeful with the new guidance from the Government, that we will be able to reopen in the near future.
