Harriston Village Hall
Harriston Village Hall has now been open 5 years. We became a charity to take on the lease of the Village Hall after it was put up for sale in 2016. Our Trustees work hard to keep the hall in the heart of Harriston. This past 2 years has been a hard one due to the Pandemic Covid-19 and lock down. It has been hard not seeing everyone and opening up for events, the past 2 yeas and the restrictions that have had to be put in place. We have sadly not been able to hold any Bingo events during the year, .
Our Food Pantry has been continuing to run, we are open every Tuesday 12 until 2 pm. We serve tea and coffee during this time, where our community an drop by just to have a catch up with friends.
We have worked hard to ensure we keep doing all we can to embrace our community by keeping our Village Hall at the heart of our Community.
As we were unable to open for Halloween we did a best dressed house and people emailed their costumes into us, we had a neutral judge go around the houses to pick the winner and the best fancy dress. At Christmas we arranged for `Gansta` Santa to visit the village, we provided the boxes of Maltesers which were given out by Santa to everyone that attended the event. We have continued to keep our doors open for the foodbank and we will continue this for as long as there is a need. We open our doors by prior arrangement for those that are working and unable to attend during the day, by contacting us on: 07795907985
Events
Halloween
Due to covid restrictions we had to hold our Halloween lock down 2021 event by having prizes for best decoratated house, best witch/monster scarecrow, best pumpkin in the garden and we had parents email their own costumes and their children`s costumes for judging.
We felt sad not being able to hold our Halloween Party again this year, so we wanted to do something different once again we had lots of really good entries and our judge had a hard time picking the winners.

Christmas 2021
We arranged with Tribe Cumbria for Gansta Santa to visit Harriston once again this year. We had a fantastic amount of people come along to see Santa. Everyone that came was greeted by Santa and the Grinch gave out boxes of Maltesers which the village hall trustees provided.
Food Pantry
We initially started our Food Pantry in June 2019 as a pilot project after we were approached by CRL. We have had a good response from residents on the village and through referrals. (for referrals please use contact details at the bottom of the page. We continue to partner with CRL for those that wish to order a food box, these are £3.50 a week and can be picked up on a Thursday, if you wish to order one please contact Henry on 07795907985
We also partner with Fareshare and have delivery for our Food pantry on a Tuesday this is open to everyone for a minimum donation of £3
We have done our best to keep the Food Pantry/Hub open to all in need, during the pandemic and continue to keep our doors open to all.
We Need You!
We need new groups for our village hall after the pandemic restrictions are lifted. We would love to have: Keep fit, Moky, Self Defense, Art, Photography, Craft groups, Specialised Clubs for hobbies. We look forward to bringing new people and groups into our Hall in the future.
If you are are interested in hiring our hall for your group or even if you have an idea for a group, please contact us. by phone on 0169732370 and leave a message, or use the contact form on our contact page.
Events Committee
We would welcome new members that are interested in sitting on a committee to help get new groups and events into our village hall. This job can be quite time consuming but we welcome change. Please contact one of our Trustees or phone 0169732370 and leave a message.
Harriston Residents Association
Our residents association, is currently not meeting in the Village Hall during the pandemic. We are in contact with each other, through telephone and email. We recently sent an email to Castles and Coasts due to the play equipment at the top and bottom of Harriston Village being removed. We have been assured that the play equipment will be replaced in the near future. We were also told that residents will have a say in what the old play equipment is being replaced with.

Last year we complained to the County Council about the public footpath styals going over the fields, as a few resident reported to us that they were dangerous and rotten. After the County Council came out to inspect them, they have had them replaced with Kissing Gates, this has made the public footpath more assessible for the less abled and people with young children.
If you have something you thing the residents association can help with, please contact us by email harristonresidentsassoc@gmail.com
